“Red Lion and Sun Society”
The Red Lion and Sun Society in Iran was started in the early 1920’s and joined to the International Red Cross movement shortly after. Without searching the activities of Red Cross and Red Crescent, I was not aware that this stamp is about humanitarian activities… it looks rather like a coat of arms of the country (and it was) – but if you read Persian writing, it must be obvious (under lion in decorative bracket).
Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe‘s interview on the BBC revealed that current human rights in Iran is sadly bad under Revolution Army – many innocent people are in prisons, forced by political strategies. I guess the Red Lion on this stamp is not as proud as it looks…
刀剣を握ったこのライオンは、国の紋章だと思っていました。過去にそうだった時期もあるのだけど、この切手の時点ではイランでの赤十字活動のマークだったのですね。1920年代には正式に赤十字社の国際組織となった団体のマークで、一つ前に取り上げたチェコスロバキアの切手にも載っています。ペルシャ語が読めたら、ライオンの下にそう書いてあると分かるのですが、、。
2ヶ月ほど前、イランから家族の待つ英国に戻ったナザニン・ザガーリ=ラトクリフという女性がいます。全く身に覚えのない罪を着せられ、50年も前に英国が返済しなかった借金を取り戻す道具として捕らえられ、外交的な人質として5年間刑務所に入れられた後に、借金が返済されたと同時に釈放された彼女がBBCのインタビューで語った内容からは、イラン革命軍が政権を握っているかの地の、人権のない暮らしがうかがえます。この切手のライオンも現状には恥じ入っていると思われ、、。
