Red Cross, Crescent and Lion

31 January 1969, Czechoslovakia
“50th Anniversary of Czech Red Cross and League of Red Cross Society”
design: Ivan Strnad / engrave: Jaroslav Goldschmied

Until recently, I wasn’t aware that different symbols are representing the activities of the Red Cross in some Asian countries – such as Red Crescent and Red Lion with Sun. The distant memories of Crusades was still kept by many people even in the 19th century when global human rights were established…

On this stamp, all symbols are shown as united activities in war zones and other humanitarian disasters.
