Happy New Year! & double the tiger

5 January 1986, China
Year of the Tiger

Tomorrow is New Year’s Day in China and many countries, such as Singapore, Malaysia, Mongolia, Taiwan and Vietnam. I guess the celebration has already begun – and tigers must be everywhere.

This stamp is from 24 years ago, when China’s economy started to rise and that is reflected in the tone of the picture. There were many wild tigers in China in the past – but there were only about 50 counted in the 2018 report. This year’s conference for the TX2 (double the tiger) project by WWF will reveal the most recent figure of this animal. I hope they are surviving.
