Abominable Snowman

This animal has yellow fur, a wide mouth with sharp fangs and round ears. And Bhutan is one of the precious countries that provides land for tigers. So, I thought this might be a tiger…

The clue is obvious on the stamp, it says Snowman in English! And the Stanley Gibbons catalogue adds “abominable” on its list. Well – it is rather charming Yeti with cross-eyed smiley face, though.

この図柄の動物は黄色いし大きな口と牙があって耳先が丸い。しかも発行国のブータンは、稀少なトラの生息地がある場所。ってことはトラよね？と思った。

ところが切手には、雪男と英語で書いてあるのです。しかもスタンレー・ギボンズのカタログには、「邪悪な」と但し書きが。この寄り目の、ちょっと笑った感じの雪男は、とても邪悪な奴には見えません。
