I have not traveled abroad for nearly 2 years – yes, it is because of the pandemic, and I know that I am much more friendly to Gaia in this way, but I want to travel badly. This is a huge dilemma we all have to share now, especially those 25,000 people who traveled to Glasgow for the COP26, I guess (except the prime minister of the UK who used private jet to get back to London in time for a dinner…).
When this stamp was issued in 1967, people did not imagine how large the impact could be, caused by those long-distance journeys, especially by jet flight.
国外に出かける旅行をしなくなって、ほぼ2年経ちます。もちろん原因はパンデミックですが、今の生活は地球にやさしい暮らし方でもあります。この切手が発行された時のような奔放さで旅をすることはもう許されず、どこに行くにも「温暖化に一番インパクトが少ない移動法は？」と考える必要がある。
今、COP26のためにグラスゴーに集まる2万5千人の人たちも、きっとそんなジレンマを抱えての旅なのでは？（と書いた矢先に、英国の首相がディナーに間に合うためにプライベート・ジェットでロンドンに戻った、というニュースを聞いて、がっくり、、。）
