When you are under very strong light, the contrast is great and the shadow is erasing the details of the objects in darkness. In this stamp, the capital is symbolic of the ancient civilization – these columns appeared more than 1,000 years earlier than those in Greek temples.

カルナック神殿の柱頭が光を受けている。目を射るほどの日差しの中では光と影の差が強く、影の中にある近景はすべて暗がりのように映ります。そんな明暗を通して、かつて栄えた文明の象徴のような柱頭を見ている構図の切手。ギリシャの神殿よりも1,000年以上早かった、古代エジプトの列柱です。
