oriental patterns

January 1931, Tunisia
design: Verecque / engrave: A. Mignon

Since looking at architectural decoration and capitals, I found several stamps have columns and capitals as a “frame” of the image. I guess those 2D decoration came from old books and religious icons..? This is one of those, and has more oriental decoration – closer to Egyptian capitals, which had a long history from around 2000 BC or earlier.
