A fresh new year has started. Here on the fringe of London, we are staying in tight lockdown and schools are closed for another 10 days. We hope that the worst is behind of us.
The Eastern zodiac animal of the year is the Ox – “generally referring to cows, bulls, or neutered types of the bovine family, such as common cattle or water buffalo” by wikipedia. In this wide definition, I have a number of stamps on the topic, and the first one is a non-neutered breeding bull.
あっと言う間だった昨年が終わり、ぴかぴかの新年。ここロンドン近郊では、あと10日は学校も封鎖されロックダウンが続きますが、その間にちゃんと収束することを願う、いつもと違う元旦です。
丑年の始まりに、切手を探すにあたって英語「Ox」の定義を引いたら「ウシ、雄牛、乳牛、バイソン、畜牛、水牛」とありました。これだけ幅広いとかなりの数を持っているので、気に入ったデザインのものから紹介していきます。まずは、食料としての肉牛の種牛から。
