snail hunter

30 July 1986, Japan
Insects / Damaster blaptoides
print method: photogravure with engraving
design: Motoharu Morita / engraver: Shigeru Kurishima

Despite its elegant shape and colour, this family of ground beetles is a snail hunter, thus its Japanese name is “wearing snail” as it is often found with its head in a snail shell! I want them to protect my garden vegetables!

Beginning with this series of insects, I have started to sell my duplicate Japanese stamps on eBay. Please visit there – more to be added from time to time.

This stamp is listed on eBay!
