正八面体（プラトンの立体）

This is an outline of an Octahedron, which is one of the five Platonic Solids.  Only five polyhedra have equal shapes of faces and vertex with the same numbers of edges meeting at equal angles! ( well, for a lot of people it is a matter of fact…  I am amazed, though )

I like to see polyhedra with hidden lines behind the front faces.  So, this is my favourite model, as well as being a crisp intaglio print.  I would be so pleased if I received a letter with this stamp on it!

描かれているのは正八面体で、5つしか存在しない「プラトンの立体」のひとつです。たったの5つだけ、すべての面が同じ形で、頂点に集まる稜線の数と角度が等しい立体がある！すご〜い（とコーフンしたけど、そんなのは数学好きには周知の事実でした、、）。

のっぺらぼうの多面体よりも、こうやって奥の「隠れ線」が見えるほうが面白いと思うのです。そして凹版印刷のカリッカリの仕上がり♡こんな切手が貼られた手紙がとどいたら、すごく嬉しいだろうなぁ。
