bird, hands and a twig / 手と小鳥と小枝

January 20, 2017

1947, Germany

The handcuffs chain is snapped and freed hands release a bird holding a twig in its beak.  This stamp was issued under Allied occupation 2 years after the end of the second World War, and hands are symbolically used for a great desire for freedom and hope for seeding the recovery.

We live in a chaotic world – this very day I would think about a bird with green leaves, our rather humble hope of peace.
