Together with Radar, Penicillium Notatum and Jet Engines, television equipment is counted as one of the biggest inventions in Britain.  BBC and Channel 4 are the successors of this invention – usage of that equipment has been developed for decades, to show us the great detail of sports in recent Olympic and Paralympic games.

I wonder which era of equipment is depicted in this stamp – contemporary with the stamp design? Beautiful colour and composition, looks like a woodblock print.

レーダーの発明やペニシリンの発見などと並んで、テレビが「イギリスの発見と発明」に数えられていました。オリンピックやパラリンピックでBBCとチャンネル4が頑張ったあの驚異的な接写は、そんな技術者の情熱を受け継いでいるのですね。

ここに描かれているカメラ類がどの時代のものかまだ調べていないのですが、木版画のような雰囲気をたたえ、色の重なりが美しい切手です。
