When I was child, the telephone at home was a round, banal design – similar to ones on these stamps. There was a cavity from behind just below the handset, where you can carry the phone whilst you are talking. The scene flashed from far away memory – I wanted to bring the phone to my room while I was talking, but the cord was not long enough to shut the door…
子供の頃家にあった電話は、この切手に描かれているような丸くてごろんとしたデザインでした。ダイヤルの裏上方にくぼみがあって、右手で受話器を持ちながら左方の手で本体を持ち、少しずつ引っ張って自分の部屋に入ろうとしたけれど、ドアを閉めるにはコードの長さが足りなかった、、、という遠い記憶が蘇ります。
ケイマン諸島は西インド諸島のひとつで、今もイギリスの海外領土です。
